Plague Doctor Inspired.

I have been doing a significant amount of work inspired by the motif of the Plague Doctor.
Since there are so many, I figured they deserved their own little section. A few are 3d objects, so I will add them when I take pictures.

For some reason the plague doctor image has become particularly significant.

Blackbirds and Crows have developed into somewhat of my personal totem. They are unbelievably intelligent and beautiful, but they always end up as symbols of death and woe. They are a dour bird, all black. The black clothes and bird motif of the Plague doctor is even more so poignant, like great black carrion birds. Terrifying to look upon, but with the express goal of healing the ill-  and in some warped way I find comfort in that.
A possible first draft for an upcoming project, I was trying to channel Aubrey Beardsley- hands down one of my favorite turn of the century dark illustrators.
Another very graphic ink piece inspired by Beardsley. I don't know if it makes any difference, but I was watching Animaniacs while painting this.
My Plague Doctor costume, sans the gloves. Unfortunately the CommD department has the only copy of the pictures from the night I went all out for it. I will see about getting it.

The mask is handmade and molded to my face from plaster.
