A global leader recognized for excellence in arts-based learning and innovation, Harvey Seifter is the founder and director of the National Science Foundation-funded program, The Art of Science Learning. Harvey Seifter also founded Seifter Associates, a firm based in New York, NY, where he assists clients using arts-based learning programs to drive innovation.

One project that came out of The Art of Science Learning initiative is ArtScienceMatchup. Established in 2012, ArtScienceMatchup is a resource for scientists, educators, and artists, providing a collection of ideas, resources, and access to collaborators. The main goal of the project is to continue encouraging the type of collaborations that can occur between the arts and science and education. The project’s website is divided into various sections, allowing those utilizing the materials to find resources either by age group, specific arts discipline (music, dance, art, theatre, etc.), or STEM discipline (engineering, math, physics, etc.).

The Art of Science Learning initiative also produced a curriculum designed to teach the principles of STEM learning and innovation through the use of the arts. Aimed at learners and professionals, the curriculum utilizes twelve modules to provide a cross-disciplinary and experientially based approach to innovation in STEM learning. During the second year of its development, the curriculum was used in Incubators for Innovation programs which took place in Worcester, Chicago, and San Diego.
