Wedding invitation design

I have designed other couple's wedding invitation since my early illustration career. When it comes to my own wedding, I also wanted to make a personal and meaningful one. It was very challenging yet exciting.

Before the design process started, I thought about one thing: where will the printed invitation ends up at? In my house, it usually go to the garbage bin once it's no longer needed. The thought of it made me sad, because the design needs effort, paper production needs source, and the cost of printing is not cheap. I tried to find a solution for my own invitation because I didn't want it ended up wasted. So I designed it to be worth reuse. The front page contained the event's information; and the back one is a full-page artwork without names or texts that

can be reused for room decoration, with or without frame.

Printed on 200 gsm linen paper so it fits the frame, or can be simply pinned to the cork board, or just sticked to the wall.

The place where my wedding was held is a famous heritage building in our city, which has art deco style. Thus I wanted to create an ecletic design that combined the Javanese culture and art deco elements. I also included a short paragraph of building's history at the back page of the map.

Javanese wedding actually consists a long series of processions. In my case, we had already held the wedding ceremony two months before the reception. In order to stick with Javanese culture and heritage, the illustration concept represents the processions which we skipped.
