Before joining Laidlaw & Company (UK), Ltd., where he serves as the managing partner and head of capital markets, James "Jimmy" Ahern worked with other companies such as Aegis Capital Corporation. Outside of work, he serves as president of the NMH Basketball Alumni Council for Excellence of The Northfield Mount Hermon Alumni Association.

Created in 1994, the Community Service Award recipient receives a $500 gift from the Harold A. Knapp Jr. Foundation which they donate to an organization of their choice. This award is presented as a commemoration of Mr. Knapp’s exemplary citizenship qualities.
