Armenian tales. Hovhannes Tumanyan

A short but witty Armenian tales written by Hovhannes Tumanyan.

Tale "Liar" is about a king who is so bored that he is ready to give half the kingdom to someone who will tell him a story, so absurd that he would shout “it's a lie!”.
Here the shepherd is lying in every way about the grandfather who mixing stars by stick and the tailor sews up a hole in the sky...
But the tricky King believes everything.
And then the poor man comes and says that the King promised to give him a measure of gold. The king screams that the poor man is lying. But if he lies, then he won the argument and the King already owes him half the kingdom...
So the poor man outplayed the King and received a measure of gold.

Tale "The owner and the employee"

The tale is about how two poor brothers went to work for a rich man. The rich man wanted to deceive them, but younger poor brother turned out more smart and cunning than rich man and won the argument.
