About the National School Lunch Program

A California food vendor, Better 4 You Meals serves breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner at 220 schools in Los Angeles and San Bernardino County as well as other locations in Northern California and Arizona. Better 4 You Meals strives to create appealing menus tailored to each school and to offer balanced, nutritious meals that align with the goals of the National School Lunch Program.

Across the country, the National School Lunch program provides more than 30 million children aged 18 and under with a nutritious meal each day. The federally funded program not only provides financial assistance to make nutritious food accessible to all students, it donates commodity foods to help lower school lunch costs. Each school lunch contains one-third of a child’s daily recommendation of nutrients, and menus can be customized depending on the needs of each school.

Because California schools are currently closed due to COVID-19, millions of children are at risk for hunger. To meet the state’s changing needs, Better 4 You Meals has adapted operations and now has the capacity to serve 50,000 lunches and 50,000 breakfasts daily from distribution centers throughout the state.
