A Product of its Time

A period piece depicting a small gap in time between the late 80’s and early 90’s. I wanted every aspect of this illustration to evoke a familiar feeling of early 90’s style and culture. From the still functioning arcade down to the stylization of the figures. Focusing on lighting to give the movement of a dimly-lit active arcade.

A depiction of the Mayan god of death and war convening with a priestess. Bringing painterly looseness with the defined lines of my digital illustration together to make a fanciful yet historically accurate and researched piece. Kizin in Mayan culture is shown to be a skeletal figure with a leopard pelt over his head and keeping the priestess simple but bright. I brought the traditional head-dress to focus while keeping her time period accurate.
