T H E E V E N T
After a successful first entry into Esports in 2019, The Canadians gifted the community with another NHL20 tournament. This time the event took place at the Esports Central Arena of Montreal on January 17th 2020. After fierce online qualifiers, eight players made their ways to the offline event, competing for a total prize of $15,000.
T H E M I S S I O N
We have been asked not to reinvent the wheel and to come up with a style that would convey an atmosphere similar to the previous edition. We kept some of the textures and the colours, the notorious blue and red combo from the CH branding. In order to break the "expected", we injected new elements such as the white grungy lines making reference to the traces left by the ice skates. We also added a neon effect on the colour red to give the scenes more depth and an electric intensity.
We used the giant red circle as a visual metaphor for a challenge, the challenge to show up and perform. The circle represents the forthcoming competitive confrontation, taking over Montreal, as portrayed in the intro video.
