Cover "Insidious Hobby"

This work was done for the cover of Evgeny Konstantinov "An Insidious Hobby."

The novel takes place in the late 90s - early zero. Moscow. Collector Sergei Kostikov has a wonderful ability to “revive” plasticine figures the size of a little finger, which he sculpts with his own hands. Since then, the sculptor devotes all his free time to the creation
of new miniature zinger and observation of their life. But it’s not in vain that his profession is considered dangerous - Sergey’s collector’s route is attacked. Valuables have been stolen, there are victims ... In order to prove his innocence in the crime, the sculptor resorts to the help of zinger.
The author posed a difficult task by placing an order:

In the background of the cover is the surroundings of an ordinary Moscow apartment. (Light wallpaper, a sideboard against the wall, above it is Perov’s exposition “Hunters
on a halt”). Close-up - the face of the protagonist. Sitting at the table, focused. Arms extended forward.

In Seryoga’s fingers is a plasticine figure half the size of his palm (i.e. 7 cm). This
is a pretty girl (about 25 years old), a Korean woman, a haircut “like a boy”. Shoes, jeans, a light blouse. On the blouse, in the chest area - blood from one or two bullet wounds.
He touches a wound that is already protracted in the chest area with his finger).

The near plan. Late March evening, twilight lit by a lantern (small snowdrifts are still visible). Yard at the grocery store. To the left in the distance is the collector Volga with
a green stripe on board, the side windows are broken. Closer to the center is a robber (there is no face to be seen, gloves are on the hands, Makarov’s pistol is on the right.
To the right, opposite the open door (service) to the store, is the same Korean woman.
A robber shoots at her. A crouching person lies between her and the robber (collector Serge).
