Rethinking of hungarian folk art

This project was made also for my graduation exam, in the topic hungarian folk art. Hungarians liked to use a lot of patterns and symbols in their national costumes, textiles, subjects. The one, which I chose is the tulip. The tulip symbol means the woman. A many different form of tulips - all those are other and other time of life of a woman. Teenager years, matureness, pregnancy, the last days as an old lady and even the newborn babygirl got a tulip symbol. I created various patches as patterns of the coat and used the symbols as the foremost part. The placing of the patches has a big role - the first one you can applicate to the coat is the symbol of newborn baby, and the last one is consequently the old woman's tulip.

The one on the front is offtopic. I wove there a carnation. The carnation means the man in the hungarian folk art. I assume I don't need to explain the connection between the two symbols.

I wanted to make the patterns separable, to be able to wear the coat as a usual gray jacket. Otherwise one can choose, if one wants to apply all of the patches, or only some of them. It depends on the wearer.
