BOOK COVERS

The intention of this project was to realize a series of three book covers related to the city of Berlin. The underlying motivation for this project comes from a special taste and uniqueness for the city’s imagination, as well as the challenge of transforming the words of a literary narrative into a graphic piece, i.e., translating the images and words found in the streets of Berlin a visual narrative. When collecting images in their natural atmosphere, enriches the collective imagery. Using those images as an object for reflection, as well, research of events and moments in the city’s history.

The objective was not only that the book covers synthesize a collective memory,
backed up by various mediums, in the works, and in the city, but also simultaneously recode books interpretations. “All of these solutions derive their origins from the text
of the book, but once the book designer has read the text, then he has to be an
interpreter and a translator.” (TED, 2012, Kidd)
