In the year of 2018 we had a really dry and hot August in Hungary. Our main river - Danube - reached record low water level. While the people were enjoying temporary sandy beaches on the main branch of the river the deer ruting season already started in the tidal area of Gemenc. This territory is well known for its stag population worldwide. As always in the last years I was in the forrest for a week to capture this magnificient event. But I've also discovered some unseen wonders which were only visible from the clouds.
As the weather got warmer and the level of the backwater was sinking abstract colors and shapes become visible. I've never seen Gemenc like this before.. It was unbelievable to see how seaweeds and green, yellow, red alga can fill up the river with millions of colors. As every wonder this also can not last forever. At the end of August we got really rainy weather which washed out the shapes and colors of the backwater of Gemenc.
