How Does a Virus Work?

Coronavirus
Here are a series of images that depict how a typical virus works within the body. We wanted to show how small a virus is compared to a cell and shed some light on it's process.

A virus needs a host cell in order to replicate and infect other cells. This is determined by receptors on the cell surface. If the corresponding receptors on both the virus and cell match - the virus binds and the viral code enters through the cell membrane.

This mechanism of the Coronavirus is what the CDC and others are trying to figure out - in order to alter the key components of the process - and create a vaccine.
