Neal Brown Joins WV Football as New Head Coach

Named as one of the 50 top leaders in public relations, Bryan Specht is the president of the Olson Engage firm in Chicago. Previously, Bryan Specht was a player and assistant coach for the West Virginia University football program.

After former coach Dale Holgorsen departed for Houston, the Mountaineers hired Neal Brown as his replacement. The Kentucky native comes to West Virginia from the Troy University Trojans, where he accumulated a 35-16 record in four seasons, including three bowl victories. Highlighting his record are wins over Louisiana State University and Nebraska on their home turf.

Signed to a six-year, $19-million contract, Brown started his coaching career as an offensive coordinator at Troy, moving to the same position later at Texas Tech and Kentucky. He uses the Air Raid offensive system, which emphasizes short passes thrown from a spread formation.

West Virginia football has a long history. Beginning in 1891, the Mountaineers have built a 752–495–45 record, the most for an NCAA team that has never won a national championship.
