A popular novel that takes place behind the curtain of a 30’s circus. From the outside, the circus is full of wonder. Behind the scenes though, the reality was a much darker one.
I wanted to portray the “what you see is not what you get” theme on the cover. To do this, I combined old animal drawings in a way that appeared to be an elephant from far away but, as you look closer, become something different all together.
