A classic novel about a family’s journey to lay their wife and mother to rest. In the book, one of the children is living with autism and continuously mistakes the mother for a dead fish he finds. I was drawn to this and wanted to carry that theme onto the cover.
I created a print by painting the skelital structure of a fish and transfering it onto paper. I replicated the style for the title by hand-writing the letters with glue, letting them partially dry, and transfering the forms. The imperfections were key in this design because they displayed the gritty nature of the story.
