The organization maintains several programs, such as Project Preserve, a program that provides over 130 food banks around the United States with nutritious, low-cost food. In addition to providing food to those in need, Project Preserve also provides Second Harvest with a dependable source of revenue that supports the organization’s other programs and initiatives.

Through Project Preserve, Second Harvest provides numerous types of products. These include holiday boxes, boil-in-a-bag meals, and disaster boxes. In addition, the program provides grocery staples and custom orders that have been directly sourced from distributors, manufacturers, and wholesalers. This food not only includes different types of pasta, but also canned fruits and snacks that are nutritious and healthy.

In addition, Project Preserve distributes certain health-related items to Second Harvest’s food bank partners. Such personal care items supplied by the program include everything from body wash and shampoo to toothpaste and deodorant.
