X-BOX Chinese New Gear
BACKGROUND
During our pitch for XBox, one of the challenges we were given was to come up with an interesting, low-budget, social-only festive idea for XBox during Chinese New Year.
Proposed Idea
Every Chinese New Year, people offer each other all sorts of auspicious greetings.
They are wishes for success in one’s career, studies, wealth, luck, relationships and more – all blessings for a great year ahead.
These are like verbal pieces of gear to equip you for the most important game of all: The Year Ahead.
So why not turn these wishes into actual pieces of game gear?
It’ll play to gamers’ natural obsession with gathering and completing sets of the best and/or coolest gear. Especially gear from Western-oriented games that give a nod to their Asian heritage.
Yep, Chinese New Year greetings as video game skins. Or as we like to call it...

In-game component
We also thought about having these greetings reflected as skins on gamers' in-game avatars. To collect these skins, they just need to PM us with their GamerTags for a redemption code.

This idea was created to raise gamers' luck and power - both in life and in-game. All while boosting XBox's prestige and image in their eyes.
