Getting Students Involved in Global and Social Issues

Have you ever bothered to know what your child thinks about global issues? They may have learned about them in their schools and may have seen too much on the television. But you should know what their perceptions about such issues are?
Most of the children do not liter on the street, do not waste too much water only because their parents told so. They do not trouble to think about why they shouldn’t. Likewise, very few students have a practical idea about climate change. How their little contribution can mark a huge impact.
As a parent, you need to discuss these issues with them. Let them speak before you guide them to the right concern. Try to draw a hypothesis from this.
When our newspapers, television, and social media are flooded with these issues, you cannot control or resist them from these topics. Whether it is political, social or communal, they have known all these from a different medium.
What you can do is supervise them, so that they can have a better idea about what these are. Education is not just the sole responsibility of schools.
Since you have chosen the best school for your child this doesn’t mean you have to sit back and watch them grow. Parenting doesn’t work this way. You cannot totally rely on schools. It is your responsibility to keep your children well-guided.
For instance, if you are living in Murad Nagar, Ghaziabad, there are several schools in Murad Nagar, Ghaziabad. This doesn’t mean that your work is done when you enroll your child in the best one. You have to guide them so that they do not capture the negativities spread in society. You have to stand to guide them to the reason why we save water, why we do not litter on the street, why we should bath regularly, and so on.
Nowadays, very few students are interested in current affairs. It is important for them to track their knowledge with happenings across the world. It is your responsibility to encourage and draw curiosity among them.
Discussion is always a recommended device for effective interaction. Remember, your monologue won’t help in this situation. You should let them speak and listen to what they really think about these issues. Then, before you guide them – ask a few questions like what we should do to resolve this? Let them find themselves.
