Amber Whitehead's profile

The Court of Colors (Installation)

Amber Whitehead's collection, The Court of Colors, was installed in the Middendorf Gallery located in the Maryland Institute College of Art's Mount Royal Station Building from May 16, 2013 to May 20, 2013. Amber Whitehead’s desire, when presenting her collection, was to construct a space in which her garments could live that embodied the spirit and atmosphere of the 18th Century, Rococo style that she initially drew influence from. Befittingly, she designed and constructed an exhibition space that mimics the scenery and décor of french palace, such as the Palace of Versailles. The overall object of her exhibition was to build an atmosphere within the space that not only complimented her collection; but, also, allowed visitors to feel as if they were entering a place of royalty and opulence, akin to that of the norm during the 18th Century, Rococo period.
