SEARHC to Take Over Ownership of Soboleff-McRae

A health care executive of Alaska Native heritage, Charles Clement has over two decades of professional leadership experience. His past roles include working as an account executive for Aetna and the chief operating officer of Southcentral Foundation in Anchorage. Since 2012, Charles Clement has served as president and CEO of Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) in Juneau.

SEARHC provides a variety of health care services for Alaskans in communities throughout the Southeast portion of the state. The nonprofit health consortium operates a number of permanent clinics and health care centers, as well as several seasonal clinics. Recently, SEARHC announced that it will be adding to its list of locations with the acquisition of the Soboleff-McRae Veterans Village - Wellness Center.

Formerly operated by the nonprofit Haines Assisted Living (HAL), the dual-purpose facility comprises 18,000-square feet of space used for health clinics and veteran housing. The first floor features the Haines Wellness Clinic, which is home to Southeast Alaska Independent Living (SAIL), Cornerstone Home Health, Hospice of Haines, and the SEARHC Haines Dental Clinic. On the second floor is the Soboleff McRae Veterans Village (SMVV), which features 11 apartments for veterans or surviving spouses, including four units specifically for low-income tenants.

When SEARHC takes over ownership of the facility in early 2020, the organization will relocate Lynn Canal Counseling Services (LCCS) to vacant space within the Haines Wellness Clinic. LCCS provides a range of behavioral health services with the support of psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists. SEARHC will also take over the maintenance and facilities management services for the clinic and tenants living in SMVV apartments.
