Album Cover Redesign
THE LIFE OF PABLO - Kanye West
For this project I wanted to redesign the cover art for the iconic album, the Life of Pablo by Kanye West. My design features a lot of different elements to replicate a retro VHS tape tracking or glitching.
A closer look at the design
When I listened to the album I felt as though the tone and vibe of the album had a very vintage and glitchy feel to it. The art styles, glitchwave and vaporwave, inspired me to recreate that in my work. The colors that I chose were to resemble colors you would see when a tape is tracking, but I also wanted to keep some of the elements from the original album design. The Typeface used is helvetica, and the orange used for the track list is the same as the orange used in the original album.
I had a lot of creative choice with this project, I really wanted to see how far I could go with this design without losing the feel that the album gives when you listen to it.
