It was the longtime dream of the people of Kerala to have a mobile application that easily details about all the government financial welfare schemes for its people. Even though Government provides with various welfare schemes through various departments, people are not well confronted with these schemes.
This is the first time that a mobile application has been designed to provide all the details of each scheme under various departments with all relevant data,easy and handy, just away a click.This mobile application named Thanal collects information regarding you through just 7 questions and categorizes you for the deserving welfare schemes, initiated by the Government of Kerala. Further it provides the list of schemes you are eligible for and gives details and processes of each one.
The ultimate motivation of Thanal is to deliver the knowledge of all welfare schemes by the government to the rightful people of Kerala.

Many a time, government scheme benefits do not reach the intended beneficiaries simply because they don’t know about them. This is what prompted us, to develop a tech-enabled welfare scheme app, Thanal, in 2018 to try and bridge this information gap.
The simple solution
Thanal is a mobile app and web technology platform that works on the delivery of scheme benefits to citizens. The app can work even without internet connectivity and gauges a candidate’s eligibility for government scheme by asking 7 to 10 questions.
Defining a civic problem
The issue of social injustice, fuelled by unawareness of government welfare information among disadvantaged communities.
Social workers, public servants, and government staff also may access welfare scheme data on their phone during meetings and discussions with citizens, and advise them directly. ‘Thanal’ is also experimenting with speech-to-text models to make the application more accessible. This will be helpful for visually impaired and those not well versed with using mobile app.
