The CEO of D&M Leasing in Dallas-Fort Worth, Michael Albert “Mike” Hernandez III has committed over $1 million to the Texas A&M Foundation to provide affordable and accessible education to deserving students who grew up in communities with low incomes. A Brownsville native, Mike Hernandez III is one of the newly appointed members of the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents.

In March 2019, Texas Governor Greg Abbott appointed business leaders Mike Hernandez III, Jay Graham, and Michael Plank to serve six-year terms overseeing the governance and policy direction of 11 universities and seven state agencies. The three men received their bachelor’s degrees from Texas A&M University and have contributed significantly to its educational and research initiatives.

As members of the Board of Regents, the men are responsible for ensuring that students receive a high-quality education. They must support academic research and technology initiatives that benefit the university, Texas, and the entire country. They also must review and approve any modifications to various aspects of the university’s administration, including construction projects, academic competitions, personnel, operating budget, and tuition and fees.
