Tote Bags Printed with Original Floral Pattern Design
I had the amazing opportunity at college (UHI Shetland College) to take part in the Printed Textiles Module (HNC Textiles), where I had experimented with various pattern making and printing techniques, such as different screen-printing applications. My theme was based around vintage floral shapes and patterns (such as Cath Kidston's original vallpaper designs), which were combined with some modernised Art Nouveau shapes, taken inspiration from the elaborate glass paintings of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The results were really interesting, so I thought I would print some of these on canvas tote bags, to see how they appear when they are applied on these accessories. I love how the contrasting, sharp, rounded petal shapes look with the evenly coloured surface of the bags.
I have tried the floral prints on white, black and red bags so far. There was a mixture of silver and white transfer film used in the printing process. The white film is matte, and the silver film is shiny.
First printing results. I printed these myself while working at LHD Custom Clothing (current designer/printing job).
