In 2020 the world celebrates the 250th birthday of Ludwig van Beethoven. On this occasion, Beethoven's anniversary year will take place with a wealth of events and projects. One of these projects is the nationwide "Beethoven bei uns" citizens' initiative, which aims to encourage as many people as possible to join in and 
to create a sense of unity for a festive start to the anniversary.

At the centre of the initiative is the idea of community and the coming together of people from all social backgrounds. Only by persuasively communicating this sense of community and the idea of "everyone can 
be part of it" a genuine sense of unity can emerge. 

The visualization in form of a starscape or mind-map, in which all of the 2,500 events are linked with each other, is the obvious solution. An abstract map of Germany forms the visual basis for this. Starting from Beethoven's native city of Bonn as the centre, each grid point represents a single event. Some of them are highlighted, which can be varied according to context and application.
