Reading has always been one of my greatest joys in life. When I was but a wee child, I would spend so many hours sitting in bookstores poring over novels I couldn't afford (and finishing many of them in the process! I was a pretty fast reader) and growing up lovingly, tenderly, with the stories that I found myself in. So I was overjoyed to be able to work with marginsbox — a book subscription box that features and uplifts diverse books by authors of color — as their first Artist-in-Residence for the May - October period in 2019. This was a six-month gig, and mainly involved creating art for the social media hints, as well as the packing insert for the box every month.
