Mitchell Blutt's profile

NYAM Contributions to Science - RWJF Health & Society

Mitchell Blutt has served in multiple positions during a medical career spanning more than three decades. Like many New York medical professionals, Mitchell Blutt holds affiliation with the New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM).

For ten years, the academy served as the National Program Office for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Health & Society Scholars, which sought to improve the field of population health through multidisciplinary exchange. It focused on post-doctoral and junior faculty scholars, selecting 12 each year and supporting them through two years of training at one of four university systems. Participants were encouraged to explore disciplines and research methods with which they were previously unfamiliar, and develop interdisciplinary competency in the field of public health.

As the National Program Office, NYAM coordinated all aspects of the program with each participating university. It also provided a platform for participants and alumni to further their education, including an alumni network, annual meetings, and other educational opportunities. The final cohort of RWJF Foundation Scholars graduated in 2017.
