Life Unedited
Medium: Mixed Media
Project: Creating a body of work that tells a story and revealing the different layers in my life.

Artist Statement:
We often hear the question, “If you could go back and change one thing in your life, what would it be?” My response has always been that I wouldn't have changed anything. The good, the bad, and the ugly; the victories, the battles, and the failures are all part of what has made me the person I am today.

I realized after beginning this project that this became more than just documentation of events in my life. Each one became a story I was telling. Some stories were more personal than others which made them more difficult to tell, but each one demanded truth and transparency; rawness to its very core. It is what it is.

The entire process provided a way for me to not only record the different events in my life but to accurately tell a story that was unedited. New techniques were discovered. Experimentation and trial and error were commonplace during this process. Staining techniques were random and uncontrollable but yet balanced and expressive. Consistency is found throughout each piece of work. Even though each piece is its own topic and could stand on its own, as a group they are a stronger unit that tell the entire story, the story of a life unedited.
