The Legend of the Suram Fortress

Legends has it that a fortress was forever under construction, and forever collapsing before the last brick could be laid. A young fellow was sent out to seek the advice from a fortuneteller - he also happened to be the son of a man who years earlier had left the fortuneteller. The fortuneteller told him that he must be walled up in the fortress' wall, else the structure would continue to tumble.

The legend was in 1986 made into a film by director Sergei Parajanov, which was stylistically linked with the movie “The Color of Pomegranates”.
The movie is “dedicated to the memory of the Georgian warriors of all times who have given their lives for the freedom of their country” - quote from the movie
