One of my favorite parts of these events is the monthly event banners created by the community. I had the opportunity to create the banner illustration and animation the August meetup and had a ton of fun putting it together.

The initial concept of characters walking behind the Mograph Mondays logo remained intact throughout the project but went through a few different phases.
Initial concept with fully rendered characters
Character poses abstracted into simple shapes.
Adding color, texture, and design elements in Procreate before moving into Illustrator and After Effects.
Early shape blocking.
Final shape blocking, full character proportions, roughening shapes to feel more organic.
Once I settled the design into the various abstract shape characters it was about nailing down the details and finding pleasing poses for the final banner.

Finally, after the character designs and banner layout were locked, I moved into animating a looping walk cycle for each of the characters. These animations can be seen in the final video above or individually in the gifs below.
