INSIDE - A MHxP animation project
To start off, MHxP is the shortened version of my final year project name; 'Mental Health x Perspective'. Under this project, we were tasked to create various media products such as videography, photography, animation and design. Being the group leader of the project, I had to lead my team to satisfy the requirements of the assignments, while trying to raise awareness about mental health in our country.
Initially, we focused too much on finishing the videography and photography -that by the time we had our mid-showcase to exhibit our progress, we didn't have anything for animation. As we approach closer to the actual exhibition dates, we managed to finish up the animation video in less than 2 weeks.
In the making of the animation, I assisted my teammates in writing the script - but the overall execution of the animation, including camera movement, composition, lighting, character art style and movements are mostly done by me. Here's some few key arts and visual breakdown from the animation video.
The base story of the whole animation centers around a Chinese girl, Wang Li Lin (Lily), who's interested in arts and the creative field but was held down by both of her strict parents and this somehow affects the way she thinks and her emotions deep inside. Another backstory of Lily was established in my other shortfilm (also under MHxP) titled 'I'm in Here'.
