Harvey Seifter's profile

Asian Cultural Council and Cross-Cultural Collaboration

A prominent expert in arts-based learning practices, Harvey Seifter is the founder of Seifter Associates in New York, NY. With an extensive background in theater arts, Harvey Seifter has received fellowships from the International Theater Institute and the Asian Cultural Council (ACC).

For more than 50 years, ACC has provided both long-term fellowships and short-term grants to artists, art scholars, and other art professionals who want to expand their horizons by collaborating with artists in other countries. Focusing particularly on cultural exchanges between the US and Asia, ACC frequently funds artists who wish to be immersed in another culture and engage in meaningful cross-cultural relationships.

Most of ACC’s grants support the developmental process of artists and collaboration among artists. Therefore, ACC does not usually make grants for product-focused activities, such as public performances or tours, unless the activity makes an exceptional contribution to the promotion of international understanding. ACC also provides logistical and programming support, such as connecting fellows and grantees with contacts in the destination country and recommending relevant sites and art activities.
