About

An estimated 2 million people in the UK are living with a diagnosed food allergy, yet there seems to be a breakdown in communication between food outlets and those who suffer from allergies. Perhaps the sufferer doesn’t speak the native language, or they’re simply too embarrassed to let a server know that they have an allergy...

Counter Allergy unites the two sides through a campaign targeting food servers, and an app targeting those who suffer from food allergies.

App
The Counter Allergy app helps those who suffer from food allergens by highlighting which allergens are present within all dishes on a restaurants menu. The user checks in at the restaurant they are visiting, browses the menu which clearly details allergens present in each dish, they are then prompted to enter their allergens before confirming their order. This information is then passed onto the kitchen who will strictly avoid contamination with said allergens.

Campaign
'Not just a preference' is aimed at restaurants and waiting staff. It's purpose is to raise awareness about the importance and severity of food allergies. The campaign includes a series of posters and flash cards which detail the symptoms of the eight main allergens in order to ensure that customers who suffer from food allergies are treated with the upmost importance.
