During the winter quarter in SCAD, we were assigned to re-design a classic book cover. In this project, I chose my all time favorite book, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. This book is what brings me to where I am right now. I don't think I would pursue art as my career path if it wasn't for this book. My signature style is usually very illustrative with abundant details, which means that creating this type of design style is completely out of my comfort zone.
The Process
Tight sketch with colors. The color palette at the top was chosen during the color compilation process.
I designed my own title typography using procreate and trace it again on photoshop.
Final design as dust jacket for hardcover book. The printed version was deliberately distressed to create an old classic look. The last picture is the mockup using the original design without distress.
