The Canadian federal election must be held no later than October 21, 2019.
While electioneering probably won’t get really serious until after September 16 when Parliament is recalled, unless it's recalled early to allow six weeks before the election, I can tell my fellow Canadians this now:
If Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party of Canada are re-elected as a majority government, or are able to govern with the support of the NDP, Greens, and/or Bloc, and if Bills C-48 and C-69 are enacted without appropriate amendments, or are not outright rejected by the Senate, then I predict, and I for one will demand, that the Alberta Legislature approves a referendum on separation.
The referendum question will be simple and unambiguous:
DO YOU GIVE THE GOVERNMENT OF ALBERTA THE AUTHORITY TO NEGOTIATE THE SECESSION OF ALBERTA FROM CANADA?
I can assure my fellow Canadians that I am far from the only Albertan who feels this way.
It would be a mistake for eastern Canadians and the "Laurentian Elite" to think this is only a bargaining ploy.
