Cerebral was shaped by the disruption of artificial intelligence in modern society.  Whether we like it or not, humans are now in the business of constructing machines that optimise, write code and learn themselves. We are designing these algorithms that control robots’ behaviour and this will inherently shape our future for better or worse.

Cerebral is my second personal project, taking around 5 months from initial ideation to final delivery, working after hours and in my spare time.

From the onset, I took this project on as a challenge to explore new tools and techniques within Cinema 4D, Substance Painter and Nuke and above all else, grow as a Designer and Art Director.

While this project started out with an initial video shoot of some key shots, working with my mate and Cinematographer Oliver McGeary, in post production it became clear that the majority of scenes would need to be fully created in CG to achieve the dystopian look I was after.

All of the CG elements were modelled within Cinema 4D, aside from the main character and some additional background props which were bought and re-textured in Substance Painter. The soundtrack was originally sourced through Musicbed, with SFX added using Ableton.

The intention behind Cerebral is to leave viewers with more questions than answers.
