Home foundations in Interior Alaska often sit above the ground to keep the frozen earth below from thawing, and to allow for a foundation to be adjusted if the ground does move beneath the structure.

This piece uses negative space to demonstrate imperfect planning, and explores the execution of stability by creating a self-supporting structure.

Process: I wanted to draw a line around the three houses that would not double back on itself, that would suspend the houses above the surface, and that was self-supporting. The design went through a few different iterations.
