The Hollywood Blacklist recounts the 1947 Hearings before the House Un-American Activities Committee, on charges of communist infiltration in the motion-picture industry in Hollywood. The publication tells a dual-narrative of the trial itself, alongside a background of stories of the Golden-Age of Hollywood, the political climate of the United States and those accused of being communists. The book is infiltrated by red pen-marks to highlight important sections for the reader. A red gradient that grows from the spine represents the growing tension and fear of communism within the courtroom.
