This is a personal passion project concept. As a movie enthusiast, I always thought what if there is an interesting app where I can showcase the lists of movies I have seen, and explore the unseen with likeminded folks. After trying a couple of similar apps, it didn't take much long for the idea of designing something that fits exactly what I have in my mind to come. The name for the app was a no-brainer.
Started with planning and laying out the ideas in paper. Since the app aims at movie nerds like myself, user research part was the easiest. Discussed the technical possibilities with fellow designers and developers, and researched movie databases like IMDb, review and rating websites like Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic, and movie listing platforms like IcheckMovies etc for a better understanding of handling the data.
The next step was to put the plan into action. Converted the ideas from paper to wireframes, and then to interactive prototype using Adobe XD. The primary focus was on the functionality and user friendliness, rather than the visuals.
Once the interactive wireframe for the basic app structure was laid out, I shared them with a couple of movie lovers to see the user behaviour. Replanned and corrected few areas. The next part was to give it a good look.
The colours should be visually pleasing, but shouldn't be a strain for the user at the same time for a longer period of use. Thus went with midnight blue and a pinch of neon turquoise.

The app design is still at the the beginning stage, and there are a few features to add. User badges, movie trivia, reviews and quizzes are some of them.
