Bakn is a restaurant based in Pennsylvania that has a strong focus on one meat and I’ll let you guess what it is. All of their tastiest dishes are pork-inspired and just thinking about the ingredients makes my mouth water. From the Chicken & ‘Cakes which is described as crispy boneless chicken breast on bakn stuffed cakes with bourbon maple syrup to the 1lb BLT Bakn knows how to serve up their signature ingredient.

Now, while the menu can make your mouth-water, prior to jumping into this project, Bakn's website left something to be desired. The style I took for the design came from the grease-soaked butcher paper vibes that you get in the best barbecue restaurants in my hometown of Austin, TX. With that as inspiration, we took the logical next step of using rough paper textures and minimal illustrations and pairing them with bold sans serif typefaces. This all came together to create a website that feels unique and shows off the brand exactly the way the founders wanted.
