The Team Wake Effects Racing Boat

Russell “Rusty” Rahm holds leadership positions with a number of companies. These positions include his role as founder, president, and chief executive officer at Publishers Renewal Service, Co., in Shawnee, Kansas, and founder of Subscription Ink.  Rusty Rahm also owns Wake Effects, LLC, the marketing division of his boat racing business.

The Wake Effects racing boat is a 48-foot long, 11.5-feet wide Marine Technology, Inc. (MTI) catamaran with a top speed approaching 200 miles per hour. While winning the 2016 Key West World Championship, the Wake Effects vessel, led by throttleman Jeff Harris and driver Rusty Rahm, averaged just under 109 miles per hour.

Racing as lucky No. 17, the catamaran is composed of a carbon fiber hull with a 2-inch thick polycarbonate windshield. The boat’s aesthetic design and graphics were handled by ProDezigns and Visual Imagination. Additional features of the Wake Effects racing boat include multiple GoPro cameras, Mercury Racing propellers, and most importantly, twin turbo 1650 Mercury Racing engines.
