CloudNine asked me to design the snowboard graphic for their main model — Tanto. As a passionate snowboarder it was impossible to decline such project.
Tanto is a small knife or dagger that a samurai carries with himself. So naturally my initial idea was to be something with the knife, maybe with a big knife on the whole board or something. Or maybe some Japanese girls holding the knife and looking serious.
After seeing the initial sketches the client decided to go to more urban style and environment. So I've come up with the concept of modern samurai girl. Urban and cool but still holding the knife. After some alteration of the drawing and drawing style we had the final graphics
