The story of the stoat drawings
– For Áron.

Áron was my significant other. In September, 2015 I lost him in a bicycle accident. He was very young, only 29 years old. One of the hardest part of my life was learning to be complete without him on my side and finding the happiness again. By now I can say that I found meaning to my life and that I can live as freely and happily as he wanted me to live. He comes to my mind every day and he will remain the greatest inspiration throughout my life. I will always be grateful to have been a part of his life.

Most people know him as an amazing talented typographer. I know him also as my favorite illustrator.
As graphic designers we always inspired each other not only in work but in life as well. We loved to show each other what we worked on. He inspired me to create typography and I inspired him to illustrate. I think he was unique in illustration too, as in all things which he began to deal with. If he did something, he made it to perfection.

The story of stoats began when we gave nicknames to each other. He thought a lot about what kind of animal I would be if I was one. In the end he figured out that I would be a stoat. When I asked him why, he told me: ‘The stoat is charming, tricksy, a little evil but rather cute.’ From then on he called me ’my little stoat’. I told him that if I’m a stoat, then he is one too, because we are one. So I called him 'my little stoat’ aswell. At first he protested, he said that I can’t steal his nickname, but he accepted it after a little time.

So it happened that he drew us as playing stoats for my birthday, which was the first stoat drawing. This expresses the best what our world was like.
My birthday is in summer, his is in winter. When his birthday came I thought I’m going to draw him and myself as stoats in white winter fur, thus the second stoat drawing was created. Then we made up the rule that we will draw lover stoats for each other's birthdays. I got his second stoat drawing in 2015. He can’t draw me anymore, but I'll continue our oath and draw lovely stoats for his birthday until the end of my life.
