Life's Library Bookshelves

Life's Library Bookshelves
These were created for John Green and Rosianna Halse Rojas' book club (which is still currently ongoing!) Life's Library, and are meant to be representations of the discussion groups within the forum. The whole project took about a week from idea conception to design completion.

While definitely the most ambitious and challenging project I've undertaken to-date, I'm very proud of how they turned out!
Aloe Desert theme: tan rocks, rocks, neutral colored books, several succulents.
Chamomile  This was very much my "Tumblr aesthetic" shelf: fairy lights, polaroids, a tea pot.
Hibiscus — Tropical explorer shelf! Magnifying glass, elephant pot (which has since been named Biscuit by the group members), triangular bookcase, unfinished wood.
Cygnus —  For the astronomers and stargazers. A white swan feather, navy blue books, an art print of the swan constellation.
Forest — Another explorer shelf, with more of a desert ambiance. Honey shelf held up by rope, compass, a marimo moss ball, a map made from aged parchment.
Gold — The athletics shelf. An elaborate book crate decorated with sportsball ornaments, hanging cleats, and a gold trophy.
Ivy — Witchy bookshelf, complete with ivy vines, a wand and a crescent moon decoration. A black cat guards a tome lazily open on the shelf, and a half-melted candle glows softly in the center.
Marble — A very neatly organised shelf filled with classic-looking books, a calla lily and a typewriter. Two white marble horse figurines flank both elevated ends of the shelf.
Onyx — Chess shelf: all black and white, lots of straight lines, very neat and geometric. I really like the pop of color from a small plant to the right! This one definitely took the shortest time to make.
Pearl — The ocean shelf. This is the only two-layered shelf, held together by sailor rope. Several nautical elements like an anchor, coral, a ship in a bottle.
Quartz — Parisian! Lavenders, a vintage camera and an Eiffel tower figurine.
Rose — The shelf of my dreams, based on Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Light softly dappling through a stained glass window, mile-high stacks of books, a candelabra, rose, and chipped teacup.
Tulip — This is probably one of my favorite shelves! The concept was basically "disorganized", so I had a lot of fun finding random elements to put in the shelf. May or may not be based off the shelf (if you can even call it that) of someone I know.
Scale — The science academic shelf. I was trying to make this shelf an encapsulation of the traditional nerd aesthetic: a Newton's cradle, Rubiks cube, Tardis, and a bulletin board of post-it's and a checklist.
Willow — Musical shelf. I'm VERY fond of the color palette for this one; I love how warm and homey this feels. A ukulele, headphones, metronome and a record poster gently illuminated by a circular lamp.
