Dabestan Typeface

Dabestan* is designed for students from 7 to 12 whose minds are blank from any writing experience. Since teachers have an important role in educating system, this typeface should be easy for teachers to teach, and for students to learn and read.

Besides increasing learning speed and quality, this typeface is a good template to copy, therefore, with the teacher’s support, it will lead to good handwriting people. The typeface family is functional, not only in letters, but also in numbers, punctuations, and diacritics and is suitable for all textbooks in elementary school, including Alphabet Learning, Math, and Quran.

We did some researches about educating systems inside and outside of the country. We studied useful fonts in Farsi and English alphabet learning systems and had meetings with professional typeface designers. Therefore, the outcome was a typeface that is perfectly legible, copyable, simple, functional, kind, and friendly.

Formic features:

• Following handwriting movements and pencil forms, and low contrast in strokes thickness.

• Fast and accurate recognition of pencil’s moves, baseline, and the joints.

• Unity in letter’s harmony and joints.

• Wide grooves, fewer joints, smooth cuts, and no sharp angles.

Dabestan typeface has two styles, including beginner and advanced. The structures in both styles are similar, and the forms are more completed in advanced style. Beginner style is for first and second grades, and advanced style is suitable for second to sixth grades. Each style includes three weights: regular, semi-bold, and bold. Not to mention this font supports Farsi, Arabic, Urdu, Kurdish, and Jawi languages.

Dabestan typeface has been co-designed by Reza Bakhtiarifard and Omid Emamian for MaryamSoft. This project has been started in 2016 and completed in 2018.

دبستان فونتی برای دانش‌آموزان ۷ تا ۱۲ ساله است که در ابتدای راه بوده و لوح ذهنشان خالی از هرگونه پیش‌زمینه‌ی نوشتاری است. ضمن این‌که آموزگاران نیز بخش مهمی از روند آموزش به حساب می‌آیند؛ این فونت باید به‌گونه‌ای باشد که هم آموزگاران بتوانند به راحتی آموزش بدهند و هم دانش‌آموزان بتوانند به راحتی از پس خواندن نوشته‌ها و یادگیری آن‌ها برآیند.

این فونت در کنار بهبود سرعت و کیفیت یادگیری دانش‌آموزان، الگوی مناسبی برای تقلید بوده و در نهایت با کمک آموزگار، باعث تربیت افرادی خوش‌خط می‌شود. خانواده‌ی فونتی که نه تنها در حروف؛ بلکه در اعداد، علائم و حرکت‌گذاری‌ها کاملاً کاربردی بوده و مناسب استفاده در همه‌ی درس‌های ابتدایی از جمله: فارسی، ریاضی و قرآن باشد.

در آغاز طراحی، درباره‌ی فضاهای آموزشی و تحقیقات صورت‌گرفته در داخل و خارج از کشور تحقیق کردیم. فونت‌های پرکاربرد سوادآموزی فارسی و انگلیسی هم با دقت بررسی نموده و همین‌طور با افراد باتجربه که قبلاً در این زمینه کار کرده بودند یا در محیط آموزشی با دانش‌آموزان سروکار داشتند جلساتی برگزار کردیم. در نتیجه خوانایی، تقلیدپذیری، سادگی، کارایی، مهربانی و صمیمیت شاخصه‌های اصلی این تایپ‌فیس‌اند.

تایپ‌فیس دبستان دارای دو پایه‌ی «سوادآموز» و «پیشرفته» است. اسکلت حروف پایه‌ها مرتبط بوده و از نظر فرم رو به تکامل می‌روند. پایه‌ی «سوادآموز» درپایه‌ی اول و دوم دبستان و پایه‌ی «پیشرفته» درپایه‌ی دوم تا ششم کاربردی است؛ هر پایه هم دارای سه وزن «رگولار»، «سمی‌بولد» و «بولد» است. گفتنی است که این فونت از زبان‌های فارسی، عربی، اردو، کوردی و جاوی پشتیبانی می‌کند.

تایپ‌فیس دبستان با هم‌کاری رضا بختیاری فرد و امید امامیان و به سفارش نرم‌افزاری مریم طراحی شد. این پروژه در سال ۹۵ آغاز شده و در سال ۹۷ به اتمام رسید. دبستان را می‌توانید از فروش‌گاه قلم نرم‌افزاری مریم بخرید.
