The project is a book cover that was designed in a reverse way- I chose an object with symbolic potential first, took a plethora of different images of the object, manipulated different photos to create certain moods, then chose a book based on that.

The general idea of Anthem is a Dystopian society where no one is allowed to be individual and everyone is expected to act for the good of all. One man breaks free with his own ideas and rebelling against the system. I think the light bulb works both literally (as the main character builds a light bulb in secret before revealing it to the world but being rejected), and figuratively (since book, to me, seems like someone pushing past the darkness and oppression and working to build his own light based on his own beliefs).

Design choices came into play in the placement of the text, the font choices, and the colors. I chose a Sans Serif font, Comfortaa, to be the title text. It is a bold and straightforward text, which I feel captures the mood of the book. The Serif font for the author and quote text, Crimson Text, compliments the title text. The colors match the image color scheme, and stand out against the dark part of the image where the text is.
