In December of 2007, Playstation Europe held a contest on a continental scale, where creative minds from all over could submit a wallpaper for the video game Uncharted: Drake's Fortune for the Playstation 3, using the assets we were given and our own creativity. Ten winners would be picked, and the first place winner would see his wallpaper available to download on every European Playstation Store.
At the time, I was only 14 years old, but I had already some basic knowledge with Photoshop, and even though I knew there would be tough competition, I couldn't let this opportunity go by, so I got to work, using every possible tool I knew how to use. After a week or so, I came up with the final design which I then submitted.
I didn't really believe it at first, but when they announced me as the winner, I was beyond happy. My efforts had paid off. And since December 20th, 2007, my wallpaper is on all European Playstation Stores for download, alongside the official wallpapers for the game.
Winning this contest really gave me a huge confidence boost in the graphic design area...it motivated me to push myself, to invest myself in this field, and I haven't looked back ever since.
