Time Travel Photography

me at 54 and 12. I like his smile better
i love when old photos have things unexplained like boy on left crying.  i loved basketball growing up.
these photos seem so rich to me. that they could afford must have been a treat. this is my great grandfather... and his dad.
i can barely remember this day.  i think nervous and arrogant about the future. just want to tell myself to relax.
hadn't thought of my childhood much, not the everyday. i could feel how i felt at the moment that the past and present composite came together. i would noodle and noodle and then suddenly  the photo changed. it was palpable.
i started visiting old friends. this was minh and suzanne on their city wedding. i was the best man.
some of my relatives were famous in their locality. the gentleman on top saw a grand piano outside and was inspired to start the shanghai conservatory which still exists today.
mom and dad and I at the University of Illinois where they spent a chunk of their first decade in america.
My maternal grandma  is standing next to me with four of her six sisters. that there were no brothers created some electricity. they became artists most of them, some famous. not my grandma though.
these are not my relatives, but my great grandfather's odd collection of friends.
My daughter Kyra.
My son Miles. I think this captures his essence.
Young me with young kids.
I was Mendel in Fiddler on the roof. Musicals seemed so big back then. We look like a rock band. Me now is drummer.
Have many more, but ending here. I think my way of time travel is that it is a bit silly and ridiculous and in that way deeply profound. So it is with most art.
