The Onlus BimboTu is an Association that offers psychological support to children affected by serious diseases, and to their families. They commissioned this work to the Graphic Design Course of my University. The request was realizing a storytelling which should have centered on the figure of the mother, a woman affected by the unexpected news of her son's illness. The graphic style is inspired by Anna Kövecses' works and it suggests the desire to communicate such a serious problem with delicacy, avoiding the explicit reference to suffering: the expedient of the large and heavy sphere is used to represent the burden of the disease, which unexpectedly falls into the mother's life, without notice. The pain of the woman is told in her daily dimension, like a bulky weight that always accompanies her and that affects above all in the most familiar environments. The mother seems to be the only one to carry this weight until she meets someone who is forced to carry the heavy ball as well, which holds out her hand. The meeting leads the mother to BimboTu Association, represented by a house surrounded by the pictogram of our logo proposal. Cooperation and support will make the child's illness more manageable.
